Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program in Los Angeles

If your teenager is struggling with an addiction or a mental health disorder, you may be feeling overwhelmed and hopeless. Luckily, there are many treatment programs available for teens in Los Angeles, and our intensive outpatient treatment may be right for your child. Intensive outpatient treatment provides intensive therapy and support in a less restrictive setting than residential treatment. This program can help your teen get back on track and learn how to live a healthy and productive life.

About Teen IOP

What is Intensive Outpatient Treatment for Teens?

Intensive outpatient treatment for teens is designed to help adolescents dealing with addiction or mental health challenges. Teen IOPs specialize in providing a safe and supportive environment that promotes healthy coping skills, self-awareness, and respect. Adolescent intensive outpatient programs focus on helping teens build a strong foundation of recovery and learn how to manage their emotions, cope with stress, problem solve, and build healthy relationships.

Teen IOP vs Teen PHP

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) differs from a partial hospitalization program in a couple of ways. IOP programs are less restrictive but still provide the same intensive level of care as PHP. Teens can participate in an IOP while still living at home, attending school, and participating in other activities. While teens will still live at home during PHP, they spend the entire day at the treatment center, five days a week. PHP is a better option for teens with serious mental health issues or those who need more structure and supervision.

Teen IOP at Key Healthcare

How Our Teen IOP Works

At Key Healthcare, we treat high school-aged adolescents who are 14-17 years old. Treatment takes place nine hours per week for 4-12 weeks, depending on condition severity, in our Los Angeles teen treatment center. Our comprehensive and structured adolescent intensive outpatient program is tailored to meet the individual needs of each of our patients. We provide group and individual therapy sessions, family counseling, academic support, and much more.

Individual and Group Therapy

We use a variety of evidence-based therapies to help teens identify and understand the behaviors that are causing them distress. Through these therapies our teens will learn how to cope with their mental health and dual diagnosis substance abuse in healthier ways.

Family Participation

We believe that family involvement is essential in teen treatment. We provide family counseling sessions as well as family education programs that help parents and family members understand their teen’s condition and learn how to best support them in recovery.

Academic Support

We understand the importance of helping our teens stay on track with their academics. Our program provides academic coaching and tutoring to help teens stay focused on their schoolwork and succeed in their studies.

Aftercare Planning

We understand that the transition back to home life can be difficult for teens coming out of treatment. We provide relapse prevention planning and aftercare support to help our teens stay on track with their recovery.

Key Healthcare Admissions

Our Teen IOP Admission Process

At Key Healthcare, we strive to make the admission process for our teen intensive outpatient program as easy and stress-free as possible. To begin our admissions process you will need to submit our online form or call us. From there we will send a pre-assessment survey that will help our clinical director evaluate your child’s behavior, level of functioning and help us understand any underlying mental health conditions.

During this time our admissions team will also gather your insurance information so we can verify coverage for our adolescent outpatient treatment program. Based on the information gathered during the initial assessment, we will begin to develop an individualized teen treatment plan.

We understand how scary it can be to send your child to an adolescent intensive outpatient program, which is why we have parents come and visit our center to see what it's like. This provides piece of mind that your child is in good hands. You'll be able to see our therapy rooms, recreation areas, and meet with the Key Healthcare staff. Once you feel comfortable, we will get your child officially enrolled and on the road to recovery.
